  • Provides hormone replacement therapy, gender affirming surgery information, a support group and other health and transition related resources to gender diverse individuals in Lake County, no matter of history or current situation.

  • The Lurie Children’s Gender Development Program provides support to youth who are gender expansive/non conforming, gender-questioning, and are trans/nonbinary/genderfluid. Patients may start care up to age 22 and continue until they turn 25. Care includes mental health/behavioral support, gender transition services, and ongoing consultation with both youth and their families on their needs.

  • A Safe Place offers a 24 hour help line, housing, counseling, and court advocates to support victims of domestic violence and human trafficking. The nonprofit also does community outreach to prevent domestic violence from occurring.

Community Partners for Affordable Housing (CPAH)

  • Located at 800 S. Milwaukee Ave., Suite 201, Libertyville and serves the Northern Chicago suburbs.

  • Community Partners for Affordable Housing has multiple resources for renting and maintaining a place to live. The group provides many affordable housing rental programs for low income families and individuals based on income eligibility. CPAH also has support for home buying such as counseling, education, and down payment assistance. For maintaining a home, CPAH has resources and counseling on foreclosure and eviction prevention and small grants for home repair costs. The grants are based on income eligibility.

  • Lake County Housing Authority has public housing for people 55+ who also have a disability and runs the Lake County Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program. The Section 8 Housing Programs allows eligible people to use 30% of their income on paying for rent with the rest covered by the program for a property of their choice with fair market rent. People who have a housing choice voucher or live in public housing are eligible for voluntary programs individualized to develop self-sufficiency from services. Lake County Housing Authority also has HUD Certified Housing Counseling on a variety of topics available to all Lake County residents for free.
