Edly-Allen law protects domestic violence survivors using workplace resources

SPRINGFIELD – Domestic violence is a serious public health issue across the United States. In Illinois, 42% of women and 26% of men will face violence from an intimate partner. To ensure survivors are not further burdened at work, State Senator Mary Edly-Allen collaborated with State Representative Daniel Didech on a new law going into effect Jan. 1.

“Victims of domestic violence should not have to worry about workplace retaliation,” said Edly-Allen (D-Libertyville). “Survivors should not be penalized for protecting themselves. This law can — and will — save lives.”

Edly-Allen, Faver Dias to launch holiday community toy drive to brighten the season for families in need

GRAYSLAKE —State Senator Mary Edly-Allen (D-Grayslake) alongside State Representative Laura Faver Dias (D-Grayslake) are working together to host a community toy drive intended to bring joy to children who may have been overlooked, particularly over the past year.

“Every child deserves to wake up with joy in their hearts during the holidays, and this toy drive is our way of bringing a little magic to families who are hurting,” said Edly-Allen. “I am deeply moved by how our community shows up for one another and grateful to everyone helping make sure no child feels forgotten this season.”

Home Energy Savings Presentation

Join my office, State Representative Joyce Mason, the Citizens Utility Board and Zion- Benton Library for a presentation to learn more about your utility bills and energy efficiency programs that can help save energy and money.

The presentation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 13 from 10-11 a.m. at the Zion-Benton Library, located at 2400 Gabriel Ave. in Zion. No registration is required.

Libertyville Senior Center Mobile DMV

We are bringing the DMV to you! My office is pleased to partner with the Illinois Secretary of State’s office to provide mobile DMV services to our constituents from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12 at the Libertyville Senior Center, located at 135 W. Church St.
