Emergency medical and rescue services to get major upgrades under new Edly-Allen law

SPRINGFIELD – Under a new law led by State Senator Mary Edly-Allen, fire protection districts will be able to use funds to update, purchase and maintain new property and vehicles.

“This law gives a much needed update to the Fire Protection District Act that hasn’t been updated in decades. It is critical we continue to find ways to support our emergency services in any financial capacity we can,” said Edly-Allen (D-Libertyville). “By allowing local government to accumulate these funds, real improvement will be made to address the quality of emergency medical services that are typically underfunded.”

House Bill 4359 allows the Board of Trustees of any fire protection district in the state to accumulate funds from its ambulance fund and emergency and rescue fund to improve the quality of services that emergency medical and rescue services provide.

Edly-Allen law to protect children from abuse and neglect

SPRINGFIELD –State Senator Mary Edly-Allen passed a law to remove the requirement that all reports of child abuse and neglect made by mandatory reporters must be confirmed by Child Protective Service Unit.

“By streamlining and clarifying how abuse is reported, we are taking a step toward making the reporting process more efficient and thorough,” said Edly-Allen (D-Libertyville). “This legislation will ensure that concise and accurate reporting is the standard in Illinois as our future generations deserve nothing less.”

Edly-Allen highlights local fire district grant recipients

LIBERTYVILLE – State Senator Mary Edly-Allen announced two local fire protection districts in the 31st District are set to receive funding through the 2024 Small Equipment Grant Program.

“This grant program is crucial to safeguarding our communities by allowing our fire departments to buy new equipment they need,” said Edly-Allen (D-Libertyville). “I commend both of the local fire protection districts in our community that will be able to purchase much-needed equipment so that they can effectively and safely do their job.”

Edly-Allen announces $6.1 million in infrastructure improvements coming to area

LIBERTYVILLE – Building upon the smart infrastructure investments supported by State Senator Mary Edly-Allen, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced an investment of $6.1 million in road and bridge improvement projects coming to the area.

“Improving our state’s aging infrastructure by making these necessary investments will create good-paying jobs and make our roads safer and more reliable,” said Edly-Allen (D-Libertyville).

As part of IDOT’s latest Multi-Year Plan under Rebuild Illinois, the district Edly-Allen represents will see nine infrastructure projects totaling more than $6.1 million next year.

These projects are part of IDOT’s multi-year plan, a $40 billion investment in construction projects for the next six fiscal years. The plan invests in all modes of transportation: roads and bridges, aviation, transit, freight and passenger rail, waterways, as well as bicycle and pedestrian accommodations.

“I remain dedicated and determined to see that our roads will be safer,” Edly-Allen said. “This significant investment will help enhance our state’s infrastructure and equip our economy for the future."
