CHICAGO — State Senator Mary Edly-Allen (D-Libertyville) released the following statement after a verdict was reached in the trial of former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan:

“As elected officials we represent the people and we must hold ourselves to a higher standard. Unethical behavior undermines the integrity of our government and erodes trust. The verdict of Madigan should serve as an example to all of us who serve the people. If you abuse your power there will be consequences.”
